My name is Christine Stalker and the first Burmese to come into my life was a brown Burmese girl called 'Floo' in 1972. I was training to be a veterinary nurse and and she belonged to my boss, vet Keith Butt. 'Floo' was simply the naughtiest cat I'd ever met – but she was utterly adorable! I loved her silky brown coat, her golden eyes and her zest for life. So, I promised myself that one day, I would have a Burmese of my own…
Three years later, in 1975, whilst working in Bedford as a newly qualified veterinary nurse, I bought my very first Burmese, a brown tortie, called Tantabin Amazing Grace (see photo on the right) from a local breeder in Bedford, Mrs Bettina Stapleton. Bettina mentored me into showing and breeding. I registered my prefix, 'Vintarn', with GCCF in 1977 and thus began what has become, over the past 44 years, an enduring "love affair" with Burmese cats!

I am a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) and I worked full time in Veterinary Practice for 30 years, until 2002. In order to retain my title of RVN, I keep up with the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by attending seminars, both online and locally, whenever I can.
Mt vet nursing career was followed by four years in publishing, at OUR CATS in Manchester. From 2006 – 2011, I owned & published a trade magazine and then until December 2015, I worked for a local charity.
I am now very happily retired - this means I get to spend lots of time at home with my cats. I share my home in Cheshire with my three adorable Burmese cats. I enjoy showing my cats at local GCCF shows and I have one or two litters of kittens each year. I only have one litter at a time and they are reared in my home. Once the kittens are reserved, I encourage their new owners to visit and this starts the bonding process and helps the kittens to be sociable and confident.

I am proud to be a member of the GCCF's Responsible Breeder Scheme. The key points of this Scheme are that:
Burmese Cat Club Memberships
I am a member of all three UK Burmese breed clubs; the Burmese Cat Club, the Burmese Cat Society and the Burmese Cat Association.
- Every kitten bought from a GCCF Breeder Scheme Member will be registered, vaccinated, and carry an initial period of insurance.
- Every GCCF Breeder Scheme Member is supported by their Vet.
- Every GCCF Breeder Scheme Member is a member of at least one GCCF Breed Club relevant to the Breed they are selling so that they have a source of advice and access to the process that governs the way their Breed is registered.
- New owners can give feedback.
