WELCOME TO THE HOME OF VINTARN BURMESE

Welcome to the story of the Vintarn Burmese…
My name is Christine Stalker and the first Burmese to come into my life was a brown girl called ‘Floo’. She belonged to a vet I worked for in London in 1972 and was simply the naughtiest cat I’d ever met – but utterly adorable!
Three years later, I bought my first Burmese (a brown tortie) called Tantabin Amazing Grace - better known as “Eccles”. Owning Eccles, showing her and breeding in the late 1970s began what has become, over the past 30+ years, an enduring “love affair” with Burmese cats!
I share my home in Cheshire with my husband Mike and daughter Anne-Marie. four Burmese cats and a tabby and white cat called 'Dixon' – who thinks he is a Burmese too! My prefix, Vintarn, was registered with the G.C.C.F. in 1977. I enjoy showing my beautiful cats at Championship Shows in the UK, and was delighted when our lilac tortie, Vania, became my first Grand Champion on 8th March 2008! However, our cats are, first and foremost, our beloved family pets.
I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse and I worked full time in Veterinary Practice until 2002. This was followed by four years in publishing at OUR CATS in Manchester. I now am blessed because I am self-employed and work at home, as the editor and publisher of a trade magazine and as a freelance Veterinary Journalist. This means I get to spend lots of time with my cats and their kittens. I recently returned to Veterinary Nursing but only work one half day a week, as a theatre nurse.
I am a member of several cat clubs; including the Burmese Cat Club and the Burmese Cat Society. I also fund raise for my local cat charity, the Knutsford & District Trust for Animals.
We have three breeding queens, a lilac tortie called Grand Champion Vintarn Vania (Vania), a chocolate tortie called Champion Vintarn Lady Velika (Chloe) and Vania’s daughter, a chocolate called Champion Vintarn Whisper a Wish (Whispa). Their mum is the beautiful cream Burmese you saw when you entered this site – Champion Janzanco Howsweet Thesound (aka Millie). Our other two cats are Grand Premier Roobidoo Bohemian Rose (Rosie) and our handsome Tabby & White domestic shorthair, Dixon.
On the following pages you will find ‘Millie’s Story’, the history of the Burmese breed, photographs of our cats, our kittens, and some useful links.
